RPR Motors specializes in the diagnosis and repair of Model S/X batteries
The fault is diagnosed before the battery is actually repaired. Sometimes the vehicle can also be paralyzed by other faults in the high-voltage system – for example, if the engine, battery heater, air conditioning compressor or interior heater fail, an insulation resistance fault can occur that prevents the vehicle from starting. However, if you only look at the alarms on the vehicle’s display, you can be pretty sure that the battery needs to be repaired. Error codes such as BMS_u029 , BMS_u019 , BMS_w017, BMS_f017, BMS_u018, BMS_f018, BMS_u025 and BMS_f107 indicate a battery error. BMS_F123 is an insulation fault (moisture) within the battery.
BMS_f151 indicates an error outside the battery.
If a battery failure proves probable, the vehicle data is recorded on a tester, the battery is disconnected from the car, the battery is opened, the fault is localized and rectified. The repair includes a complete visual and, if necessary, electrical inspection of the battery as well as the replacement or cleaning of important battery sealing and “venting” components. If the repair requires the replacement of battery cells or modules, the new (used) cells are adapted to the car’s original battery set. The battery is reassembled, reinstalled in the car and a test drive and charge are carried out to determine the success of the repair.
A typical cause of battery failure is the accumulation of moisture in the battery. Moisture collects both through condensation and through valves in the battery skirts. In dusty conditions, the valves become dirty and start to let moisture into the battery – temperature fluctuations contribute to this. Sometimes moisture also penetrates through rusted holes in the fuse cover or through bolt holes in the battery cover. Moisture trapped in the battery leads to oxidation – for example, circuit boards in the battery break down. We can repair these circuit boards or replace them with intact ones. In rarer cases, the battery cells themselves are damaged, meaning that the entire battery module has to be replaced.
With an LDU (Large Drive Unit), we also check the motor encoder, i.e. the sensor at the end of the motor. These engines have experienced coolant leaks and a wet sensor is a sign of an incipient problem. If the sensor is wet or the engine shows other signs of leakage, we recommend servicing the engine as soon as possible.
The price of a battery repair varies between 4T€ and approx. 8T€ (incl. 19% VAT) depending on the actual cost. After a thorough diagnosis and the subsequent removal and opening of the battery, you will receive a concrete, binding cost estimate from us.
Alternatively, we also offer the replacement of your complete battery pack and an upgrade to 90KWh or 100KWh. There is also the option of a “rental battery” while your battery is being repaired for a small fee.
Under normal circumstances, a battery repair takes about 1 to 2 weeks. If parts such as If battery modules need to be replaced, you should allow a few weeks for the repair, depending on the stock situation and availability of parts. Tesla, for example, will need between one and two weeks to deliver new parts. The estimated repair time is stated in the cost estimate.
The dismantled modules are extensively tested and measured individually.

Easy to recognize: a defective capacitor C26. We measure the BMBs extensively according to our own strict specifications.
We manufacture our own CNC milled aluminum fuse covers.
Here you can see rust forming on the individual cells
We always find the fault with the help of our own measurement technology.
Everything works without any problems. Charging behavior normal, Performance as usual, consumption normal. I am still completely convinced by your work, thank you again. Greetings from the Ruhr area
Mr. Ohlinger always looked after me competently from the first phone call and always answered all my questions in a friendly manner. In general, there was always a super pleasant atmosphere - in contrast to SeC, where I think the lounges are great, but the communication with the consultant is rather distant and there is zero communication with the workshop.
The team at RPR Motors got my Tesla back in top shape. The Tesla had a battery fault and was barely charging above 30%. Instead of replacing the entire battery across the board, the RPR Motors team first carried out a comprehensive inventory and then specifically rectified the faults. The repair was even completed promptly and I also received excellent support throughout the entire period with frequent replacements. There is nothing to complain about either professionally or personally.
Quality and customer satisfaction are always our top priority.
Make an appointment directly here for the diagnosis & repair of your defective battery for your Tesla Model S / X.
Ideally, you should send us a picture directly with the existing error messages/codes from the service menu. This helps us, and therefore you, to obtain further information in advance.
